Ramadhan in Sibu

FINALLY I went back to my hometown for the weekend Ramadhan.

 (sunset in Betong)

The opportunity to spend my few days of fasting in my hometown is something I cherish dearly, after a boring (and lonely) week in Betong.

I also took an extra couple days of leave since I am not planning to go back early for Aidilfitri preparation. This year, my superior granted me only one day leave for Aidilfitri but I does not mind - better than the traffic officers since they are prohibited to take any leave during this holiday season. Ehehehe

I took part the duty of decorating my office, in conjunction of the holiday mood. But the participating of the colleagues seems to make the decoration looks somewhat overkill. Sabor jer lah... Just look at the result below (50% complete) and judge yourself, ehehe

Ramadhan 1431H

RAMADHAN
has arrived…

As the third Pillars of Islam, ritual fasting is an obligatory act during the month of Ramadan. Muslims must abstain from food, drink, and sexual intercourse from dawn to dusk during this month, and are to be especially mindful of other sins. Fasting is necessary on every Muslim who's age is more than 11.

The fast is meant to allow Muslims to seek nearness to God, to express their gratitude to and dependence on him, atone for their past sins, and to remind them of the needy. During Ramadan, Muslims are also expected to put more effort into following the teachings of Islam by refraining from violence, anger, envy, greed, lust, profane language, gossip and to try to get along with fellow Muslims better. In addition, all obscene and irreligious sights and sounds are to be avoided.

(ehehe my typical lazy days on the Ramadhan afternoon…)

And this Ramadhan will be our first without my dear brother,..

Before this, when both of us went to Bazaar Ramadhan for some prepared delicacies for the fast-braking, we often shares the cost that both of us has purchased, though it always be “I-point-you-pay” attitude.

This year there will be no one else to share the cost. This time it is all left to me to purchase them, at my own perusal. Alahai…

Breaking fast together with my family today seems quieter than the previous years… We just sat together, recite the doa, and then ate whatever that have been prepared before us. Nobody tried to mention anything, since we are trying to avoid any conversation that will tied to my late brother.

You know, each time my late brother’s name popped-up, my mum will get a little emotional (and tears), and personally, I hate that mood-spoiler thing…

Yes, I do miss my brother, but I also have come to realise that life must goes on, with or without him...

To all readers of this blog: “Selamat Berpuasa, dan tambahkan pahala tu…”

Hospital

AH, I've left this blog for quite a some time. Guess having metal block does is not a good excuse for me... By the way, wishing Selamat Hari Gawai and Hari Kematan for all the natives from Sabah and Sarawak.

I was so busy for this past few weeks. Abah (dad) was (and still is) admitted to the Orthopaedic Ward in Sibu General Hospital since 10 days ago. His right toe suffered gangrene...

Finally, after waiting for a right time, abah underwent a small amputation today. His fifth right toe was finally removed.

1800 hours... the two and a half hour operation was finally done.

Been fasting since this morning, abah can't wait to have his dinner

Faridah, my sister-in-law ponders if she could taste some of the food. Ehehehe

This is the toe that was finally removed.
